Synopsis Once upon a time, girl met boy and a love story began. Their future was assured until tragedy struck and deceptions were made. There are consequences to every action, and the Consequences of Deception are always the most punishing. Four and a half years after turning his back on her, Killian steps back into Sloane’s life in the most shocking of ways, giving her no choice but to abandon her life and go with him. Why would a man buy a woman that he hates? Not everything is as it appears. Love is beautiful, revenge is ugly, and lies destroy lives. Prepare to discover the Consequences of Deception. Review Hands down the best book I have read this year!!! At the beginning of the book I thought Killian had to be the most arrogant asshole I had ever come across in any book, but as the story progresses you start seeing who he really is and that the person he appears to be is nothing but a cover up. Sloane was once a strong and confident, but after the tragic death of her father and best friend forced her to live with her Uncle, the only family she has left and a Aunt who makes it perfectly clear that she doesn't like Sloane at all she has become weak and has lost her will to fight. Killian is six years older than Sloane and at seventeen he considers her to be 'jailbait' and insist that they wait the six months until she is eighteen to take their relationship from friends to something more, but when tragedy strikes they are torn apart by lies and deceit and their once strong relationship turns to nothing but hate for on another, except Sloane doesn't understand why they hate each other. Move forward four and a half years and Sloane is counting down the days to her twenty-second birthday when she will be able to collect the inheritance left to her by her father and start a new life for herself away from the Aunt and Uncle who have made her life a living hell. When Sloane is only weeks away from finally having her life back Killian waltzes back into her life only to crush all her dreams. Forced to spend time with one another because of the contract that turned Sloane's dreams into the reality she is determined to find out what happened to their once close relationship. As the story progresses the story unfolds and Killian is left feeling a terrible amount of guilt for the way that Sloane has been treated for the past four and a half years and plans to do nothing else but make this up to her for the rest of their lives together. There are so many twists and turns in this story that you just can't not be pulled in and, just when you think there couldn't possibly be anymore, in comes the shock factor.... I have read the Hart series by Ella Fox and I thought the twists and turns in that series was going to be impossible to top, but she has proven me wrong in this single novel. Excerpts "'I'm not kicking you out, Sloane. I'm buying you'" "' I'm laughing because you're still trying to get your pound of flesh when you've already won. I'm already broken and now you're just pissing in the wind. Take whatever you want, do whatever you want. Hurt me, fuck me, punish me... it doesn't matter. When you've gotten your fill, do what you've wanted to do all along and kill me. I'm not going to put up a fight and if you won't do it, I'll do it myself. You win, Killian. It's over. I hope breaking me gives you whatever it is you've been looking for.'" "'You're mine now, baby, and I'm yours. We're a team, Sloane. I've got your back and you can have mine. We're in this for real now, right on down the line. Fuck the stupid contract - I want you to be my girl. Are you with me?'"
